8th grade boys repeat as Champions, Trammel places 2nd!

The Kerr Cross Country teams wrapped up their season at the Quad County District Championship race at Central Park in Brewer. The District Championship combined zone 1 and zone 2. The Cross country teams faced off against Aledo, Acton, Brewer, Joshua, Hughes, Mineral Wells, Stephenville, Weatherford Tison, and Weatherford Hall

Leading the way for the women as she has done all year was 8th grader Sarah Trammel. Trammel led the race from the start but was beat out in the last 50m. Trammel placed 2nd capping off a spectacular season!

Leading the way for the 7th grade boys was Travis Clark and Michael Tidwell. Clark and Tidwell both placed in the top ten earning medals.

To finish up the Quad County District Championship, the 8th grade men were led by Corbin Franco and Trenton Kelly. Franco ran the course in 11:03 placing him in 2nd place. In behind Franco were three other cougar runners. Trenton Kelly placing 3rd, Grant Brown in his first race of the year placed 4th, and Jacob Meador placed 5th. The 8th grade boys won the Quad County District Championship beating out the other 9 schools from the other zones. This marks the 8th consecutive meet the 8th grade boys have won. In total, the 8th grade boys faced off against 52 public school from around the state of Texas and defeated all 52 teams.

This caps off a great season for Kerr Cross Country. ALL runners will have pictures made during 3rd period on Friday. Please check in with your teacher and come to the pit in your uniform. After pictures you will turn in your uniform. If you earned a medal at some point in the season, you may wear it in your picture!

Quad County Race and Directions!

It is crazy to think that our excellent season wraps up Wednesday! Here is the info for the parents that want to attend! I will need two parent volunteers for the meet. The job is basically watching the course making sure nobody cuts the course. This would be a huge help as all schools have to bring two representatives. I will be having kids be dismissed from tomorrow at 1:30! We have to be at the meet by 3:00 for a coaches meeting. Here is all the info down below!

Location: Central Park (White Settlement). This park is located off of loop 820 and White Settlement Rd. Take the White Settlement Rd exit and go east (to the inside of the loop). At Las Vegas Trail you will go RIGHT. The park is located on the right hand side approx. 1⁄2 mile.

Parents the bus will be leaving the school at 9am to go to the meet! Our race time will be between 11-1pm at Tarrant County College Northeast Campus in Hurst. It is the same location that we had our first meet at. Be sure to get there a little bit earlier as parking may get a little tight with how big this meet is. As of right now there are 60 High Schools that are sign up and 25 middle schools. Also, check this page and remind for updates as there is potential for thunderstorms on Saturday Morning. Cougar Men claim Reunion run titles, Bersuch wins ladies race

The Kerr Cross Country teams traveled to Decatur, Tx to take part in the Reunion Run hosted by Decatur High School. The course is was laid out over the reunion grounds and featured many log cabins and stage castle that drew over 120 runners in each race.

Leading the 7th grade girls to a 4th place finish was Jocy Galvin who placed 3rd overall in the race. This is Jocy’s second straight race to earn a top 10 finish. Also earning her first medal  and top 10 finish of the season was Fantasia Bond running to a 9th place finish.

Leading the way for the 8th grade Lady Cougars was Serena Bursuch. Serena raced out to lead and led from start to finish winning the 8th grade girl Reunion Run Individual title. This is Serena’s 3rd race of the year where she has placed in the top 10. Also finishing in the top 10 was Sydney Aalbers placing 9th and earning her first medal of the season.

In the 7th grade Men’s race Michael Tidwell and Travis Clark led the cougars to a great finish. Tidwell placed 3rd overall and Clark placed 4th. This is first time that both Tidwell and Clark finished in the top 10. The 7th grade men won the 7th grade race beating out 10 other middle school teams.

In the last race of the day the 8th grade men were led by Corbin Franco and Trenton Kelly. Franco claimed the individual title in the race placing first and Kelly placed 2nd. Franco and Kelly have earned an award for each meet they have ran this year. Also earning medals were Jacob Meador placing 5th and Nick Scarpello placing 8th. The 8th grade boys ran away with the team title. This is the 7th consecutive meet the men have won both the 7th and 8th grade races.

The Kerr Cross Country teams are back in action next week in Hurst, Tx when they take part in the Flying Hawks Invitational hosted by Birdville High School.

****UPDATE!!!!!****** Saturdays Meet!!

Sorry for the update!! But do to LARGE number of the middle schools racing they are SPLITTING up the 7th and 8th grade divisions! We will still be racing at 11am-1pm… every parent still needs to be there by 11am to she there child race just incase something happens like them recombining the division! Hope to see everyone out there!!

Here are the directions to the park in Decatur! The bus will leave at 8am at the field house. Races start at 8am and its a rolling start and we are the last to go! District meet in 2 weeks!

Good Afternoon Cougar Nation!! District is 2 weeks from today! Races times are still unknown.. But it will be in the afternoon and we will be leaving school early! Stay tuned for more information! Also, both zones will be run together! 7th grade and 8th grade will be separate for the race! Meaning the 7th grade boys and girls will run their own race! So it’s going to be a little different this race!

I’ll give more information as soon as they release it! Travel itineraries for this weekends race will go out tomorrow!
