The Cougar and Lady Cougar Cross Country teams traveled to Ennis, Texas on Saturday to compete at The Lions Den Invitational. The course was flat with some hills on the back side that would catch you off guard if you did jog the course beforehand.
Leading the way for the Cougars in Ennis was 7th grader Trenton Kelly. Kelly placed 4th and earned a medal. Right behind Kelly was 7th grader Brendon Sexton earning a 5th place finish. Rounding out the top 5 for the Cougars was 8th grader Davis earning a 12th place finish, Jake Medrano earning a 13th place finish, and 8th grader Darien Burely. The cougars as a team took first place and beat some very impressive teams!
Leading the way for the Lady Cougars was 8th Grader Rainey Southall earning a 13th place finish and right behind her was fellow 8th grader Kayla Whitmeyer. Rounding out the top 5 scoring was, Mary Givens placing 25th, Sarah Aalbers placing 37th, and Serena B placing in 41st place. The lady cougars finished 2nd as a team and also beat some very impressive teams without one of the top lady cougar runners.
The Cougars and Lady Cougars will be back in action this Saturday October 5th in Decatur at the Reunion run. This will be a chance for the young cougars to get to cheer on The Centennial Spartan Cross Country team as they will be racing in the same place! Go Cougars!
The Cougar and Lady Cougar Cross Country traveled to Decatur, Texas on Saturday to compete at The Assault of Eagle Summit hosted by Decatur High School. From start to finish this course presents many rolling hills and the course is located at one of the highest points in Decatur.
Leading the way for the Cougars was 7th grader Brenden Sexton who placed 24th out of 162 runners. Right behind Sexton was a pack of Cougars lead by Corin Seale placing 27th. Other runners were Trent Kelly (32nd), Ethan Davis (35th), Darien Burley (36th), and finishing in the top 6 on the team was Jake Medrano (39th). The Cougars placed 3rd overall out of 12 teams and 2nd overall out of public schools. The Cougars placed behind host Decatur but in front of Sanger, Prairie Vista, Bowie, Hughes, Alvord, Springtown, Highland, Wayside, and Creekview.
Leading the way for the Lady Cougars was 8th grader Mackenize Southall placing 19th out of 206 runners. Right behind Southall was Sarah Allbers placing 45th in the field. Following Allbers was a host of Lady Cougars lead by Mary Givens (55th), Laura Hoagland (68), Serena B (69), Seleca Steward (75), and rounding out the top 7 was Leigh Roberts placing (96). The Lady Cougars placed 8 out of 12 teams defeating Prairie Vista, Wayside, Highland, and Creekview.
The Cougars and Lady Cougars will be back in action on Saturday September 21st when they travel to the 2013 Ram Invite hosted by Texas Wesleyan University.
